  6. In 1981, as a free agent, Carlton signed with 
  7. the Chicago White Sox. He continued to play 
  8. well, even as he grew older. In 1985, at age 
  9. 37, he hit 37 homers and knocked in 107 
  10. runs. On June 22, 1993, Carlton caught his
  11. 2,226th game, breaking the record for most
  12. games at catcher. He finished his career with
  13. more home runs as a catcher (351) than any
  14. other big-league backstop. He retired during
  15. the 1993 season.
